I Have Two Eggs

Another slow, Sunday afternoon and I had to work. So it was a welcome break when a good friend asked me to join her for lunch. It was more like brunch, really with my choice of fare. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Cheekily named "I Have Two Eggs", this resto serves typical breakfast fare with (go on, say it with me) two eggs. They have the usual Filipino fare of tapa, bangus, longanisa, etc. and other American breakfast staples such as pancakes and waffles. They also serve a salad and power lunches, though I'm not quite sure they have a siding of two eggs as well.

I had their house specialty, spicy tapa, with garlic rice and crispy egg. You read that right, it's crispy. To get a picture, just imagine leaving your scramble eggs a bit too long in the pan. This curiosity with crispy eggs is a good excuse for the protein and cholesterol overload. Though for a hundred fifty pesos, more than thrice the amount of a regular tapsilog at Aling Nena's (or whoever your carinderya owner is), better save it for special brunch days.

This is the spicy tapsilog (short for tapa, sinangag and itlog --beef, fried rice and egg)
