Finally Made The Switch

I finally did it! After months of almost literally turning green with envy and drooling over the MacBook, I've jumped into the bandwagon and signed up for the Steve Jobs fan club. I'm now a Mac user.

Got myself a spankin' new MacBook Core 2 Duo with 2Ghz and 2mb of RAM under its pristine white hood. Yup, this baby is fast.

I spent the last couple of days tinkering with it to no end. I'm still familiarizing myself with Tiger, the Mac OS. I've gotten so far as to using the basic Mac programs such as Safari, Comic Life, iPhoto, iCal, etc. I've also downloaded programs such as Yahoo Messenger and Skype. And as far as installing Palm Desktop and even synching via iSync.

Using a Mac feels familiar, yet different from Windows. While I do agree with the Apple cliche, "It just works", there are times when I'm left stumped on as to what to do next, whether I've pressed the right key, or followed the right procedure. Most operations are quite intuitive (and Apple deserves a lot of credit for that) yet being a Windows user most of my life, I'm still quite getting over the hang ups of my old operating system.

Speaking of which, I've given in and installed Windows XP via Bootcamp. And while I've been a Microsoft minion most of my computing life, there's still something quite surreal about running Windows on Mac hardware.

But so far, I'm loving my MacBook and wouldn't think of looking back.
